Eco Ltd is supporting the development of a project that will increase energy efficiency in the housing sector in Turkmenistan. The project task was to conduct a scoping exercise and develop a preliminary proposal for funding by the Global Environmental Facility and a request for support to prepare the final proposal.

Eco Ltd is supporting the development of a project that will increase energy efficiency in public buildings in Uzbekistan. The project task was to develop a project document (proposal) for funding by the Global Environmental Facility.

Eco compiled a report on public sector energy efficiency in more than 30 countries, identifying best practices and preparing recommendations for helping local, regional, and national governments to save energy and reduce public expenditures.

The report, which covers several regions, found that while there had been many significant improvements in public sector energy efficiency programs, there was still significant potential to save energy in nearly every area where governments were spending money for basic operations.

Eco Ltd are editors and publishers of the journal ‘Boiling Point’, a household energy magazine that provides free and accessible information to practitioners, researchers and users, reaching over 2000 addresses and an estimated readership of 5 times this number worldwide.

Eco Ltd. Secures 1 000 000 USD Grant for Removal of Barriers to Energy Efficiency in the Biomass Sector in Kenya - 19 March 2006

Great strides in energy efficiency, energy conservation, and renewable energy are soon to be realized in Kenya with the recent awarding of a grant by the Global Environmental Facility (GEF) to a project developed by Eco, Ltd., jointly with local parties, and on behalf of the United Nations Development Programme.

 Eco Ltd worked with partners including ENERGIA and ITDG-EA to develop the "Turning Information into Empowerment" (TIE-ENERGIA) project. The project is designed to help distil information that has been developed and that continues to be developed in the field of energy and gender, into knowledge that can be used to catalyse change. It concerns several African countries (Botswana, Kenya, South Africa, Mali) and it aims at strengthening the African Gender and Energy Network by increasing awareness and skills in gender and energy issues.

Eco Ltd co-ordinates the HEDON Household Energy Network, an international forum dedicated to  improving social, economic, and environmental conditions in the South, through the promotion of local, national, regional and international initiatives in the household energy sector.

Eco is the lead consultant for the development of this lesson's learnt report on "Opportunities for Biomass Energy Programmes - Experiences and Lessons Learnt", which is part of a Lessons for the Future, Monitoring and Evaluation Report Series. Eco is also the author of the Southern and Eastern Africa, and the European region chapters of the report as well as the introductory and the concluding chapters.
